saving Selma
preserving selma & The road to recovery
Saving Selma is an organization that focuses on the preservation of the historic landmarks in Selma, Alabama. The city of Selma has a rich history preceding and following the “Bloody Sunday” incident on the Edmund Petus bridge. This organization is committed to preserving the rich history of this city. Selma has become a household name thanks to civil rights leaders such as the late Senator John Lewis, Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr, Former president Barack Obama, Oprah Winfrey, President Biden, and Vice President Kamala Harris to name a few. While Selma is committed to continuing “the good fight”, the city is continuing to deteriorate. In some instances, boarded up houses on the precipice of collapsing are what is left for the descendants of civil rights leaders that lived in Selma, for example, the historical property of Mrs. Amelia Boynton Robinson. As a non profit organization, it is our responsibility to raise awareness about Selma’s rich history, bring business back to the city, and preserve its historical structures.
